Clubs
Lego Club
Lego Club sessions are for families and carers to enjoy a creative moment with their children. Participants build along a theme and at the end of the session, every child explains what they have been building in front of the group.
It’s a relaxed and social atmosphere that fosters self-confidence in children and strengthens inter-generational relationships. These sessions are free.
Outwith Lego Club, our Lego are available in The Space within library’s opening hours. Please note we also have Lego available in Lionacleit Library.
Code Club
Code Club is a programme run by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a registered UK charity.
Code Club is about putting the power of computing and digital making into the hands of children all over the world. It is aimed at children aged 9 to 13 years old.
Sessions are organised around step-by-step project guides that help young people to make their own games, animations and websites with code. Various coding languages are used, such as Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, etc. These sessions are free.
Find a few of the games and animations we created at these sessions on the Scratch website.
Please note that sessions are staff time dependent. Visit our event calendar page for future dates. We advertise the sessions on our Facebook page.
CHESS in the library
CHESS in the library is a monthly event happening in The Space at Stornoway Library.
Every first Friday of the month, chess sets are laid out ready to be used from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
This is a time when anyone can come in and play.
Please notice this is not a teaching club.
