STEAM Ahead offers a range of fun activities to inspire interest and creativity in STEAM subjects for primary schools and early secondary pupils.

Activities

 

Nursery & P1

Have fun while learning about the basics of coding with Code-a-Pillar. This is all about giving simple logical step-by-step instructions and see where it leads.

P2, P3 & P4

For first level pupils, we have robotics and computer-language activities to develop their thinking and processing skills.
We use Code-a-Pillar and Ozobots.

P5, P6 & P7

A choice of exciting STEAM activities for second level classes with Scratch, Ozobots and BBC micro:bits.

P7, S1 & S2

Visit the UHI Lews Campus inspiring Innovation Centre to learn what they do and find out about the different careers in STEAM.

Visit must be arranged well in advance and are dependent on staff availability.
At present, sessions take place in The Space at Stornoway Library

Classes must be accompanied by teaching and support staff to assist with activities.
